RACE helpers 10k race was unfortunately abandoned due to bad weather. This will be rescheduled later.

THIS weekend sees the Hampshire Cross Country Championships run at Fleming Park Eastleigh.
The course is similar to last year's RR10 race at the same venue, runners have to wear numbers for this event and will be supplied when you arrive.
The Womens race starts at 1315 and is 8100 mtrs and the Mens race starts at 1345 and is 11500 mtrs.
So all you champions of Hampshire come along on Saturday for a good race. Phil.

Berlin 2010 Marathon - A few of us are intending to run the Berlin 2010 Marathon. It will be held on September 26th.
The course is known for being the fastest in the world so anyone wishing to do a PB might like to consider this marathon.
Below is the link and you can enter on line. I understand that the entry fee increases as the months go by so it is cheaper to enter now.

On Sunday 27th I'm organising a walk (approx 5 miles) from Whiteley out past the Horse & Jockey. It will be a leisurely stroll and we'll stop at the pub en route. If you would like to come along then we will be leaving my house (83 Garstons Close) at 11am and start the walk 11.15 from the Solent Hotel car park by Junction 9 M27. Meet us wherever is most convenient for you.
Some of you may wish to do a run and meet us at the pub. I know it's the same day as the pub to pub so I'm sure many of you will be doing that instead.
Anyone is welcome to come along. If you can't make it, don't worry about emailing me otherwise I may be inundated!!!! If you can come then only contact me if anything isn't clear. Otherwise, I'll just see you there. Happy Christmas everyone!! Caroline Street.

CHRISTMAS drink - After training next Monday 21st December, we will be popping in to the Parson's Collar, Whiteley at around 7.30pm for a quick Shandy. Everyone is welcome and you don't even have to train first! Hope to see you there, fancy dress optional! Parsons Collar

'Hear ye, hear ye, hear ye!! The next Stubbington Curry and Beer Social night will be at the Wheatsheaf Public House, East Street, Titchfield at 8pm onwards on Thursday 12th November. This curry night is a little earlier than usual because we didn't want it too close to the Awards night at the end of the month (don't forget your tickets - only a few left!!). The Wheatsheaf has been recommended by a number of club members and every Thursday the landlord puts on several different curry choices and will even cook up one specially for you if you ask him nicely! I'd be grateful if you could drop me an email or telephone call if you're coming so that I can give the landlord a rough idea of numbers. Many thanks. POST HRRL debrief at the bar! The next HRRL race is the Solent Half Marathon near Blackfield this coming weekend.
In true Stubbie tradition, why not join the SGRAC team in the Pilgrims Inn on Hythe Road (the pub link is http://www.fullershotels.com/rte.asp?id=256) for a swift (or not) debrief at the bar! We last used this pub after the abortive RR10 race at Blackfield so we know that it's a goodun, (cheesy chips are top drawer!). As usual - families and children are all welcome - the more the merrier! Tim Sullivan on behalf of your social committee.

Roll up!! Roll up!! Come along to the woods for a little run, bring the kids to watch Mum and Dad run safe in the knowledge that they won’t go far. The Hampshire League kicks off the Cross Country season at Farley Mount Winchester. Ladies start at 13:25, Men at 14:30. The races are free but this course will require a small fee for parking to the scouts to help with their funds and to alleviate the cost of the race.

SO who wants to run all 10 of the RR10 courses? As you all know we are not allowed to run at our own event, so there is always that gap at the end of the season when you say, "I ran all the RR10's this year". On Wednesday 29th July there is an opportunity to run our course as several Stubbies will be meeting at Manor Farm Country Park to run it. This is not instead of the usual Wednesday meet at Crofton but an alternative. If you want to complete the set meet at the top field for a 6.45 start.

There is a further meeting for race helpers and any marshals who did not manage to attend either the previous two. This is to be held at the Locksheath Sports and Social Club on Warsash Rd, on Thursday 15th Jan at 8.00pm. Please attend if possible as it is important that we get it right on the day.

LONDON CALLING
Stubbington Green Runners were awarded four places for this years London Marathon. The lucky four runners who were awarded the places are, Susie Macgregor, Annie Tomlinson, Andrew Briggs and Tim Sullivan. There are several other Stubbies training for the marathon who have secured places through the ballot and other routes, so expect the Saturday long runs to become a bit of a cavalry charge. Good luck to all.

London Marathon

WE are hoping to organise another beginners’ course this spring when the clocks change (from March 29th), but we need some volunteers.
If you are able to offer any assistance with the organisation then please contact Caroline Street or Chris Hall - refer to contacts page on this website or call 01329-845330.
This is important for the club as it enables new runners to be introduced to the sport.
